East Hampton is a town located in southeastern Suffolk County, New York and is the easternmost town on the South Shore of Long Island. As of the United States 2000 Census, the CDP had a total population of 19,719.
The town includes the village of East Hampton, as well as four official hamlets of Montauk, Amagansett, Wainscott and Springs. East Hampton, especially estates south of the highway and in the underdeveloped hamlet of Springs, boasts some of the most expensive residential real estate in the United States.
